My paintings are usually in mixed media on quality pre-stretched canvas, ready to hang without framing. It seems as though my themes in my work vary from time to time, yet it is a cohesive collection, in that many themes are repeated. I have a style of my own, somewhere between impressionism and abstract with conceptual and symbolism often in bright colors, ranging from minimalist to multiple layers.
The themes you may see more often than others in my work are faces, hearts, symbols, funky style flowers, spirals, stars, circles, water, coffee, wine, guitars and bold colors. I typically use Golden acrylics and mediums, Grumbacher Oils, Montana Gold as my main paint mediums. My secondary process for mixed media and collage will include any of these other products; inks, charcoal, pastels, conte, coffee, dyes, tempera paints, markers, water colors, crayons, oil pastels, various papers, fabrics, photography, clay and found objects.
I also do altered books, faux finishes, found art sculptures, photography and have worked on steel surfaces, counter tops, furniture, wood, clay, fabric and papers.
I am an avid learner and experimental artist, with a vivid imagination, eager to share my enthusiasm for the arts. It is my hope you will enjoy my art and my blog. Please comment on my posts and share what you like with friends and other sites.
About the Painting: “Visual Passion” c by Jean Bourque on 30×24 inch museum quality pre-stretched canvas is part of the Coffee Series
Having been a blogger on blogspot for over 4 years, I kept hearing about Word Press being a better place to blog. That blog has been mainly written for other artists and musicians as a means of sharing art opportunities and events in SC.
In this blog, my focus will be on sharing my artistic endeavors and processes throughout the world, reaching more art collectors, galleries, museums, world-class musicians and interested venues, by sharing photos, videos and events where you can actually see my art.
It is my hope that you will feel free to leave comments on my blog and share anything you like with other sites and your own contacts.
